Have you ever gone anywhere special for a milestone birthday? Some people have large parties, I would rather take that money and spend it on a vacation.
For my 30th birthday, my family went to Las Vegas. It was a great time. We stayed at the Venetian. We had a lovely dinner at some restaurant that I can’t remember, but I know it was at the Venetian. I wore a pretty pink dress and was happy.
This year, I turn 40. I’m not planning any vacation to commemorate it because this was also the year that I got married in Las Vegas, so all of our vacation money went to that trip. Totally worth it.
Have you noticed I spend a lot of time in Las Vegas?
Regardless, if I could go anywhere this year to celebrate my birthday, I’d like to go somewhere I haven’t been, like the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame or Nashville. It’s always exciting to explore new places and the beginning of another year of your life is a great reason to go exploring.
Birthday travel ideas
On a budget? Try a staycation. Just get in vacation mode at home. Go to a museum you’ve been wanting to see. Sit on the couch all day and read a book with a good cup of tea. I’d say wine, but it might be difficult to read after a while.
Take a day trip. Get in the car and check out that cool thing two hours away. Maybe it’s an amusement park or a band.
Get away for the weekend. You don’t have to celebrate your birthday ON your birthday. Sometimes it falls on a Wednesday and that kind of sucks. Plan to head to the mountains and celebrate or find a spa resort and just relax all weekend.
Visit that one place you’ve been talking about for the past 10 years. Seriously. Save your pennies, so you can go there. Maybe it’s the Eiffel Tower or the world’s largest Buffalo. Whatever it is, do it!
